Since Si is pretty much a professional messmaker, we don't put delicate ornaments on our Christmas tree. They have a special place of display year-round. Most of these have been gifts and today I got to add one to my collection! Thank you Kayla and Dent! You made my night!! πππππ·❤π #messmaker #sillysi #simison #amateurphotog #definitelynotapro #thetreeactuallyonlyhasthreeornaments #butthelightsarepretty πππ #merryChristmas #Christmas2k17π

I just finished watching Mudbound. It shook me to my core. I know that stories like these were more common than some people today would have the general public realize, but I also know that many of us (as in good ol' southern white folk as my PawPaw would say) have never ever felt hatred in our hearts towards any group of people. I am not speaking for anyone but myself here. The internet has become a breeding ground for hatred and trolls who seek out the worst possible parts of our society and exploit them to make them seem probably far more extreme than they really are on a daily basis. Anyone with a smart phone and a modest data plan can make waves on the internet these days. And I want to start making some of those waves. But I don't want them to be the kind of waves that knock someone down. We have the power to spread kindness and Christianity to the world right here at our fingertips! We have Facebook and Twitter. We have Instagram and Pinterest. And we even have the one social media I loathe the most, Snapchat. (Sorry Snapchatters, I just don't trust that platform yet...) I dont guess I trust any social media platform really. But I do use them. And I enjoy using them. I enjoy seeing recipes of delicious foods that I probably will never make. I actually laugh out loud at some of the Boomerang videos I see and think, "why didn't I video something cute like that?!?" I follow news stories (some of them possibly fake π) on Twitter and I like stories on Instagram. And yes, I even watch stories and Snaps on Snapchat. I just spent over two hours watching a heartwrenching movie about one of the most horrible and wonderful times in our American history. We won that war. Not all of our troops came home and some of the ones that did probably felt much like the guys in that movie. The movie wasn't about the war. It was about us as people. We have the ability every day to hold someone up or to tear someone down with our words and our actions and even with our mannerisms and facial expressions. That saying my Granny taught me of "Pretty is, as pretty does" still rings true today. Treating people how we want to be treated seems to be happening less and less every time we turn on the tv and watch the news. I don't really know why I'm even typing this honestly. Maybe just to get it off of my chest or because writing is absolutely cathartic for me and I really do feel better once I'm done. So this is no act of altruism, I assure you. If you have the time and want to watch a very good, but very heartwrenching film AND if you have a Netflix account, you should watch Mudbound. I'm glad I watched it. I may have to watch it again. #foundanothersoapbox #kindnessisfree #ireallydolikelonghashtags #seewhatijustdidthere? πππ€£#ihadtogetmymomtoreaditfirst #imnewatthisadultingthing #thatoneisforyouaudra πππ€£

Feeling appreciated is one of the most simplest yet incredibly uplifting things you can either hear or feel. Today my students made sure I knew they appreciate me. This pair of fuzzy socks, shower gel, hot cocoa kit and the cookies from my last post came from two very different but equally awesome students. I am still floored they they took the time and effort to put together a gift for me! I absolutely LOVE my job. Cookies or no cookies, these kids are a blessing to be around. I should thank them for all they have taught me. ☕π☕π☕ #smallactsofkindness #teachersofinstagram #Christmast2k17 #Christmastimeiscoming

Cookies from one of my students! I rarely get gifts, so when I do I have to make a big deal about it!!! Especially when they're this scrumptious! ππππͺ #Christmascookies #sugarcookies #oatmealcookies #chocolatechipcookies #whydoesthecookieemojilooklikecrackers #androidcookieemojifail

Jackson Academy had Milk and Cookies with Santa last week! I had my camera primed and ready for some awesome shots of Si... but that wasn't what King Si wanted. I was able to capture the precious Kennedy Clark (you must say BOTH names because that's how Si says it) while her beautiful mother was holding her. Maybe we will get to take some more family shots this week! π πππ#makingmemories #simison #kingSithemessmaker #hisreignisaboutover #mommacanthandleitanymore #thatsclarkwithouttheEthankyouverymuch

She has no clue how happy she makes me... my beautiful baby girl is growing up into a beautiful young lady... I hope I can be as good of a mother for her as she has been a good daughter for me. I am absolutely blessed by God to have this child in my life. ππ❤ππ #mysavinggrace #janiebelle #answeredprayers
