Rememberance
"Everything I am today, I owe to my grandfather. He took us in and raised me without question after my parents died. After he had already more than earned his retirement and rest. He taught me values, dignity, that your word was your bond, the importance of respecting others, and that with hard work... One could earn life's rewards. My upbringing, my career, my sense of duty, my love of family... I will carry these forth in remembrance of you always."

My Daddy
There hasn't been a card written that can relay how I feel about my daddy. I'm confident to say that there never will be one written that will explain it either. Hallmark isn't that good.
He has taught me 95% of what I know. From computer programming to changing a flat tire (luckily I haven't had to put that knowledge to use just yet) and all the things in between.
He is always willing to help. His patience astounds me. As does his ability to allow things to roll right off of his back. He is never rude. He is a man of few words but those few are always worth listening to. He can fix almost anything (as he has proven multiple times). Being the daughter to Mr T will always be my claim to fame in our town as I could never do anything to top that. I am proud to know that he is so well respected. He has touched many lives over his 36 years of teaching. He is stern when he needs to be and he is soft when he needs to be. His inner strength astounds me.
Happy Father's Day, Daddy.

my son
Daddy turned to me and smiled his sincere grin, "My son. How wonderful does that sound?! I've never been able to say those words."
"But you can say 'My grandson' which is pretty awesome too," was my reply.

less
She asked me if I was alright. I told her I was great :) and I am great :)
Not far into the conversation she started to cry. She even asked me, "who do you go to when you need help?"
She cried almost the entire time we were on the phone. I almost started to feel sorry for her but I can't forget about how she has treated me ans made me feel like less. Less than a mother. Less than a daughter. Less than a human being. I do hope she feels better. I even told her she should go to the doctor and ask about getting on an antidepressant because it would help her immensely. She's probably not going to do that (because she thinks that would be like admitting something is wrong with her).
That old adage about leading a horse to water is definitely true.
I do wish someone (not me) had the guts to go to my uncle and tell him he had better start helping with his parents or his say-so in how they are cared for was going to be null and void. He's a real piece of work.
I expected a call this morning. She calls me every Sunday morning around 9 asking about taking Janie to church. But not today. I almost want to call her and make sure she's alright.
Almost.
But... maybe I do need to call and check on my daddy...
