Crossed

I realized something yesterday while we were at the movie theater watching Furious 7…

I can now sit with my legs crossed.

This may not seem like a big deal (or even a strange event to celebrate) but for any overweight woman out there, you know exactly how I feel.

I am still amazed by how comfortable it is…

So far I have lost 48 pounds.

I can’t wait to lose 48 more!!

And as an added bonus for this entry... Here's a VERY BAD hair day... bless his heart, I had just woke him up...

friends

I have realized lately that because of the changes in my life (my divorce, my marriage, the birth of my son, among others that I can’t right now place) I have gone from being a very popular friend, to having very few, if any, friends at all.

Honestly, this scares the crap out of me.

I have watched my mother be friendless almost her entire adult life. She spends virtually all of her time now taking care of her parents (my grandparents – one with Alzheimer’s and the other with more physical maladies that I can fit into one blog post). The days she is not there, she is working part-time for the health department helping mothers who are on the WIC program learn how to feed their children with allergies and sicknesses that I hope to never have to understand. Her best friend in my sister. She takes the time every now and then to make a trip to visit my sister and her family (which is about 3 hours away) and it gives her a nice break from being the sole caregiver for my grandparents.

I don’t want to be like her one day.

I can name four people I consider my true friends. Each I have known for over 10 years. I don’t talk to any of them every day.

I realize that there are people who once were a part of my life that no longer are because the only time they reach out to me is when they want something from me. I don’t care to be someone who is taken advantage of because of certain skills I possess. The people (some of them in my extended family) that I have chosen to exclude from my everyday life because of their snobbish behavior are assuredly not worried that I don’t include them in my inner circle. If they were, they would make more of an effort to be a part of mine and my children’s lives. I absolutely hope and pray that I raise both Janie and Si to be better people than some of the adults they encounter.

Fridays

It is finally Friday.

I remember a few years ago when I longed for every Friday. Even though somehow every Friday became the most stressful day at work. Something always seemed to fall apart, or some task would fall on my shoulders out of nowhere and be due by the end of the day.

I longed for those two days of the week away from my job. Away from the responsibility of dealing with other people and their problems and issues that cause them to be so horrid to be around.

Now I look forward to Fridays for a completely different reason.

I am in love :)

I am finally in love with my life :)

I am in love with my children :)

I am in love with my husband :)

And with myself.

Si’s laugh and beautiful cherub face make my heart full like I have never felt before. Janie is growing into the sweetest soul I have ever known. And Jason makes me laugh and absolutely enjoy life.

I actually thought about taking off a day from work just to stay home with Janie and Si. Crazy, huh? I have less than 2 months and I will be able to be home with them every day, all day long for the summer. I honestly shouldn’t waste any days off from work (since I only have a few left) just to take off for the heck of it. I have so much to get done at school before graduation in May… The Memory Night video, programs for Awards Night, Memory Night and Graduation, and the MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) Certiport testing for my students.

I have ten students from last term that are planning to take the 98-366 MTA Networking Fundamentals Exam at the end of this month… I have less this term that will be taking the 98-367 MTA Security Fundamentals Exam, but I have less students, so that makes sense.

It isn’t even 12:30 yet and I wish I could just leave. Not because I don’t like it here. I actually really enjoy my job.

But now, I love my life even more :)

Wikipedia is not the Devil

Dear Whoever-says-Wikipedia-is-the-devil,

Stop.

Just stop.

Yes, I agree that Wikipedia is a bad choice as a reference for a term paper.

But for everyday information on a topic it is wonderful, and usually (not always) correct. There are very few places on the Internet that have such diverse topics all located together in one site.

So, shut up.

Thanks,

Leigh

AT&T DSL problems

I have been an AT&T customer since 2001. 14 years. And I am now completely fed up. Their DSL service is HORRIBLE. I currently looking for a new ISP. I KNOW that the company knows there is a problem with the service because one of their own servicemen told me so!! They own a billion $$$ company, they could at least fix the lines and cables that bring their customers what we want and PAY OUR HARD EARNED MONEY FOR.

Maybe it's time to hit up Twitter and let the world know how horrible AT&T is...

Si's first sentence

I am completely out of it! Can barely type... Auto correct has helped me out a bit lol (this maybe the only time I say something positively about Auto Correct)

Back on doxycycline again. Fighting another sinus infection.

Oh! Si said his first sentence earlier this week! He pointed at the door when we were in Sunflower waiting for Mr. Gene. As soon as the door opened Si exclaimed, "there he is!"

1608 miles

Day 6... Miles 1608... 😲 We're in Georgia on I-59. So that makes 8 states in 6 days.  I wish we could stop in Mentone on the way home, but we used up any extra sightseeing time yesterday I think... I can't wait to the the Alabama state line!! 😁🏡
